Updated December 2016
Please note that from early 2016 CamTAD were hit with drastic funding cuts. This has meant that from June 5th 2016 there will be a number of changes to our services. Our Office at London Road Community Hospital will be open Tuesday to Thursday 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm for information and advice and our clinics at the hospital will be on Tuesday and Thursday only, 1pm-3pm.
All changes to our services are in bold:
CamTAD has a number of services available that can help people with hearing loss:
Information and Advice
We work alongside various Audiology services, local councils and many other voluntary organisations and can give impartial advice regarding hearing aids, the various NHS providers and signpost you to other services that may help you.
Equipment Resource Centre
We have a room full of equipment dedicated to supporting people with hearing loss. This is an advice service and there is never any pressure to buy any products. We have a wide range of products for you to try including amplified telephones, loud flashing doorbells, television loops and headphones.
If you find a piece of equipment that is suitable for you then we can either give you a catalogue for Action on Hearing Loss where you can purchase the item or if possible we can refer to social services for certain pieces of equipment which are provided free of charge.
Hearing aid maintenance
We currently run 23 hearing aid maintenance clinics in the community throughout Derby and Derbyshire to support with the basic cleaning and re-tubing of hearing aids, minor fault diagnosis and minor repairs. These are available as a drop-in service and may involve a small wait but we endeavour to see everyone who attends. We also have three sessions each week at London Road Community Hospital.
Due to the funding cuts earlier this year we are asking our clients, if they are able, to become members of CamTAD. Membership is £7.50 a year and includes four newsletters each year.
Please note that the following clinics have been cancelled:
- Spondon (due to insufficient attendance numbers)
- Breaston (due to insufficient attendance numbers)
The clinics at London Road Community Hospital are now Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm-3pm
We are currently unable to offer home visits (or residential homes) for hearing aid servicing. Please contact your NHS Hearing Aid provider for support.
We are available for a variety of business support services including training for Disability Awareness, Hearing Loss Awareness, Loop Systems and more.
We are also available for consultation on accessibility, giving you guidance on what systems you need to be able to provide regarding the Equality Act and Reasonable Adjustments.
Loop testing is also available and is a great way of making sure your systems are compliant with the Equality Act 2010.
