Join our friendly Executive Committee

We are looking for a few people to join our friendly team of Trustees. We meet once a month, on a Monday morning at London Road Community Hospital and help to lead our staff and volunteers to shape services for hearing impaired people locally.

Most of our committee are themselves hearing impaired and it would be great to get more people involved that have a personal experience of hearing loss.

Support for people with Hearing Loss in Residential Homes

We are looking for a small team of volunteers that would be interested in working in pairs to service hearing aids for extremely vulnerable people living in care homes.

This is a great way of supporting people at your own pace, working with residential homes in your own community. We would aim to visit each home once every quarter so you can support as many as you wish making it a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly volunteer opportunity.

Our work in Residential Homes also helps us to identify any training needs for the care home staff which will be followed up by our manager.

Full support and training will be given.

We are looking for volunteers that would be interested in supporting any of our fundraising activity such as bucket collections, book sales, raffles or tombolas. This role would best suit people who want occasional volunteer work and includes a collection outside Pride Park Stadium in February 2020.

Book Sales Support

We are looking for a volunteer that would be interested in helping us to manage our fundraising book sales. This includes assisting at our book stalls in the hospital foyer once a fortnight, sorting any donated books and organising our book cupboard. If you are willing, there may also be an opportunity to help collect books for us when offered.

Coffee Morning Support Group – Greeters and befrienders

We are developing new enhanced sessions in the community where people can get a wider range of support services for hearing loss in a community venue near them.

We are looking for volunteers to support these sessions in a range of roles:

  • Befriending – Take some time to chat with our clients, make them feel welcome and encourage new friendships.
  • Support our services by helping to greet people, help to make tea or coffee or lead a craft activity such as card making.
  • Give advice about NHS hearing aids.
  • Supporting other volunteers & clients during home visits

We currently have vacancies in the following venues:

  • Mayfield Road Church, Chaddesden – Once a month on a Friday morning
  • Greenwich Gardens, Mackworth – Once a month on a Monday morning
